Bondi Junction, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, has 3 verified addresses, and all 3 are entirely gluten-free. Better still: two of them are accredited by Coeliac Australia, the national celiac association, which makes them rare markers. The list is short and leans entirely towards sweet things and bread — this is a neighbourhood of bakeries, not of restaurant tables.
The city in numbers
The two accredited bakeries
Wholegreen Bakery, 110 Bronte Road, is a 100% gluten-free bakery-café, accredited by Coeliac Australia since 2020. Sourdough breads, pastries, sandwiches, savoury pies and cakes, with indoor and outdoor seating and a view of the kitchen. The address was verified directly on the bakery’s own website, then cross-checked with Find Me Gluten Free and HappyCow. It is the only one of the three where you settle in for a proper break.
Hudsons Bakery, 238 Oxford Street, is also entirely gluten-free and accredited by Coeliac Australia: pizzas, bagels, sandwiches, breads, cinnamon rolls and cakes, for takeaway or delivery. The official website, Find Me Gluten Free — which lists it as “dedicated” — CoeliacEasy and the brand’s social channels all confirm the accreditation.
The sweet stop
G-Free Donuts, 500 Oxford Street, is the local shop of the Australian 100% gluten-free donut chain. Glazed donuts, filled with Nutella, jam or crème pâtissière, with vegan options. The address and phone number have been confirmed by several directories, and the entirely gluten-free model is that of the whole chain. It is a treat stop, not a meal.
Our tips on site
- Say “I have coeliac disease”, rather than “gluten free”: the second is often heard as a preference, the first as a medical constraint.
- Look for Coeliac Australia accreditation. The Australian national association accredits establishments whose procedures are inspected; two of our three addresses carry it. It is the most reliable marker in the country.
- Two addresses on Oxford Street, at numbers 238 and 500, can be done in one trip; Wholegreen Bakery, on Bronte Road, means a separate journey.
- For the rest of your stay, our guide to gluten-free travel in Australia covers the country, and the AFDIAG, AIC and FACE certifications explain what this kind of label really guarantees.
Explore the 3 addresses
Every address cited has been verified at the source: existence, actual gluten-free level, risks. All 3 are on the Nutrixe map. Bondi Junction still lacks a gluten-free table for the evening: if you know one, suggest it. The full list is on our page gluten-free restaurants in Bondi Junction.
