NutrixeWhat "Verified by Nutrixe" actually means
Every one of the 3,104 addresses in the directory went through the same steps, one by one, checked by a human. Here they are — and here's what we refuse to publish.
Why so much rigour
For someone with celiac disease, wrong information isn't an inconvenience: it's a health risk. A directory that copies lists without checking them sends people out to eat gluten. That's the problem Nutrixe was built to fix, and the reason behind every rule below.
The steps, for every address
- Cross-checked sources. The establishment's own communications (website, social media, menu), its actual operating status, and third-party sources where they exist (celiac associations, detailed reviews). A single source is never enough for a "100% gluten-free" label.
- Actual level, not claimed level. We distinguish a fully dedicated kitchen (no wheat flour on site) from a gluten-free menu in a mixed kitchen, and from mere options. Many places call themselves "gluten-free"; few are dedicated.
- Flagged risks. Oats, flour handled on site, shared fryer, gluten-removed beer… What matters to someone with celiac disease is shown on the listing, even when the establishment doesn't mention it.
- Visible date. Every listing shows when it was verified. Information without a date isn't information.
What we refuse
- Publishing an address whose gluten-free level remains uncertain — it waits, rather than being published by mistake.
- Charging an establishment to appear, or to rank better. No listing is sponsored.
- Hiding a risk to look cleaner. A fully dedicated place that uses oats carries an oats flag.
The limits, honestly
Restaurants change menus, change owners, close. Our information can become wrong between two checks — which is why the date is displayed, and why every listing has a Report link. Every report is checked by hand. And nothing here replaces a direct conversation with the establishment on the day of your visit, or the advice of a healthcare professional.
