Gusto Sano, piazza Aldo Moro, is a bright café-restaurant with an Italian-Brazilian atmosphere, serving breakfast and meals that are 100% gluten-free: avocado toast, açaí bowl, pasta, pastries, with vegan and lactose-free options too. It’s the address for morning and lunch. Find Me Gluten Free and GlutoApp document it, along with a positive mention noted on a local Facebook group; we found no official website, and no sign of closure.

Il Fornaio Senza Glutine, via Nazionale, is the city’s dedicated bakery: white bread and olive oil bread, focaccia, pizza and Ligurian specialties, plus pastries and cakes made to order, all guaranteed gluten-free. This is where you’ll find focaccia, otherwise nearly impossible to get without wheat. Four sources agree — Find Me Gluten Free, CeliachiaItalia, PagineGialle and the official website — for a Google rating of 4.7/5, without reservation.

The gelateria, and its risk

100% Naturale, Gelateria Artigiana, via XXV Aprile, advertises “naturally gluten-free” ice cream on its official website — and that’s accurate for the ice cream itself. The risk lies elsewhere, and it needs to be said plainly: the house also serves classic cones, wafers and brioches made with wheat, in the same space. Flour and crumbs therefore circulate at the counter, and cross-contamination is possible. Ask for a cup, refuse the cone, and announce your celiac disease before ordering.

  • Say “Sono celiaco” or “Sono celiaca” rather than “senza glutine”: it’s the word that changes how things are handled behind the counter.
  • Get the bread first. A stop at Il Fornaio Senza Glutine, via Nazionale, settles the bread and focaccia for your stay; Gusto Sano, piazza Aldo Moro, takes care of meals.
