Trento is a small city, and that is precisely what makes it a good coeliac stop: of the 6 verified addresses in our database, 4 are fully dedicated, and almost all of them sit in the historic centre, a few minutes’ walk from each other. Three, including the Grom gelato shop, carry the AIC network — the Italian coeliac association — the most solid marker that exists in the country.
The city in numbers
The AIC network addresses
Gastronomia Senza Glutine Cirilli, on via Calepina, was opened in 2024 by the Cirilli family: a fully dedicated gastronomia — breads, focaccias, pastries, hot dishes in the Apulian style — member of the AIC-certified network. Local media (Il Dolomiti, Il Trentino delle Meraviglie) cite it among the five certified gluten-free places in Trentino; Google rating 4.7. For a proper sit-down meal in the centre, this is the address.
Il Mondo Senza Glutine, on via di Madonna Bianca, presents itself as the city’s first mini fast-food with products fresh from the oven every day, entirely gluten-free, AIC logo displayed on its website. A little out of the centre, but this is where you eat quickly without asking a question.
Grom, Piazza del Duomo: the gelato chain is AIC-certified — ice cream, cones, crêpes and drinks guaranteed gluten-free by the association’s checks. One honest nuance, from our verification: the Trento branch is directly managed by the chain, so presumably covered, but no audit specific to this address was found. Another caveat: the shop also serves cornetti containing gluten, so it is a mixed kitchen: ask about precautions.
The other two dedicated kitchens
Fior di Gusto, on via Giuseppe Grazioli, two steps from Piazza Duomo: an artisan gelateria 100% gluten-free since 2022 — “tutto senza glutine”, says the official website, confirmed by the Con-Gelato media outlet. Classic and indulgent flavours, also available lactose-free, cakes to order. A dedicated gelato shop in a city this size is a luxury.
MaTì bakery, in the androna di Borgo Nuovo, right in the historic centre, is recognised as a dedicated bakery by the coeliac community (Gluto 4.9/5): breads, focaccias, brownies, pizzas renewed daily. A tip from the reviews: go early, products sell out by the end of the day.
The shop to read label by label
GlutenFreeWorld Senza Glutine Glutenfrei, on via Bolzano, is a specialist shop with organic certification (ABCERT) on display. But its catalogue mixes beer and various processed products whose gluten-free status varies item by item, and we found no “100% senza glutine” statement: classed “identified menu” out of caution. Useful for shopping, provided you check every item — and leave the beer, unless explicitly labelled.
Our tips on site
- “Sono celiaco / celiaca”. In Italy the word triggers the right reflexes everywhere; the AIC has trained restaurateurs for decades. Then “È certificato AIC?”.
- Look for the AIC logo. Three of our six addresses have it. Elsewhere in Trento, it is the sign that a kitchen has been audited by people whose job it is.
- Everything is on foot. Duomo, via Grazioli, via Calepina, Borgo Nuovo: lunch at Cirilli, a gelato at Fior di Gusto or Grom, bread at MaTì — the same afternoon, no transport.
- Trento is a gateway to the Dolomites: our guide to gluten-free travel in Italy covers the rest of the country, and the AFDIAG, AIC and FACE certifications explains what the logo really guarantees.

Every address cited has been verified at the source: existence, actual gluten-free level, risks. All 6 are on the Nutrixe map — and if your Trento address is missing, suggest it. The full list is on our page gluten-free restaurants in Trento.
