La Laguna has 4 verified addresses, 3 of them fully dedicated kitchens — with no wheat flour on site. The balance is comfortable: two eateries and two artisanal obradors, almost all in the historic center. The fourth address deserves a careful read: its kitchen is indeed fully gluten-free, but its bar isn’t.
The city in numbers
The eateries
Casa Credente, calle Alcalde Alonso Suárez Melián, in the historic center, holds the most original concept in our Canary Islands database: house-made pasta, breads and pizzas based on green Canary Island plantain. The official site describes dishes as “completamente sin gluten” and presents the place as “Restaurante, Harinas y Alimentos sin gluten.” It’s the sit-down meal to remember.
La Tasca de Arana, calle Viana, is the case worth understanding. The entire kitchen — grilled meats, house dishes, pastries — is 100% gluten-free. But the bar also offers, for non-celiac companions, a traditional beer containing gluten; the official site says so plainly. That’s why we classify this address as an identified gluten-free menu rather than a dedicated kitchen: the food is safe, the drink isn’t automatically. Explicitly ask for a gluten-free beer, and watch out for shared glasses at the table.
The two obradors
Sana Locura Gluten Free Bakery, calle Obispo Rey Redondo, is a gluten-free bakery-patisserie in the historic center. Its official site presents it as “tu panadería y pastelería sin gluten,” with “productos certificados y aptos para celíacos.”
Sin Gluten La Laguna, calle Dr. Antonio González, is a 100% gluten-free artisanal obrador where breads and pastries are made daily, with a terrace for eating on site and home delivery. Status confirmed by the official Facebook page, by Celicidad and by matching reviews found on Wanderlog.
Our on-site tips
- Say “Soy celíaco” or “Soy celíaca,” rather than “sin gluten.” It’s the word that triggers real precautions in the kitchen.
- Ask about the beer. The case of La Tasca de Arana applies everywhere: a fully gluten-free kitchen says nothing about what’s served at the bar. Ask “¿La cerveza es sin gluten?” before ordering.
- Look for the FACE logo. The Federación de Asociaciones de Celíacos de España is Spain’s national federation of celiac associations and the country’s reference landmark, even though none of our four addresses currently displays its certification.
- Three of the four addresses are in the historic center, around calles Alcalde Alonso Suárez Melián, Viana and Obispo Rey Redondo — they’re within walking distance of each other. Sin Gluten La Laguna, calle Dr. Antonio González, calls for a separate trip.
