Cagliari has 3 verified addresses, and all 3 are entirely gluten-free: no wheat flour on the premises, no questions to ask. The city has the peculiarity of covering all three uses with exactly one address each — a sit-down meal, bread, and a shopping aisle. It is short, it is complete, and it has been verified at the source.

Eating in

Man.gia is an entirely gluten-free restaurant-pizzeria-sandwich bar, presented as the pioneer of the genre in Sardinia since it opened: house-made pasta, pizzas and more than 30 selected gluten-free beers. The house website describes each of its sections — ristorante, pizzeria, snackeria, laboratorio, pane e dolci — as “senza glutine”, and InYourPocket, Gluto and Vistanet all point the same way. One caveat in the interest of honesty: we have found no AIC certification for this establishment. Nothing suggests wheat products are present on site, but the status rests on the house’s word and on third-party sources, not on a label.

Verì Pan Cafe, Via Giuseppe Garibaldi, is the city’s first gluten-free “pan café”: pastries, pizzas, focaccias and savoury dishes that are 100% gluten-free and lactose-free, to eat in or take away. Open since 2023, it is active on the Too Good To Go app. Three sources agree on an entirely gluten-free offering: an ANSA article, Atly and ristorantisenzaglutine.com.

Shopping

Gluten Free Store, Via Liguria, is a large gluten-free grocery inside a pharmacy, spread over several floors: breads, fresh and frozen pasta, crackers and even gluten-free beer. It is the address to know if you are staying in an apartment or want to head home loaded. The official website confirms a business selling gluten-free products exclusively, under agreement with the ASL; Wanderlog corroborates.

Our tips on site

  • Say “Sono celiaco” or “Sono celiaca” rather than “senza glutine”: in Italy, the name of the disease is understood and taken seriously.
  • None of these three addresses calls for any particular precaution, which is the whole point of a dedicated kitchen compared with a gluten-free menu.
  • Beer is not a detail: at Man.gia, more than 30 gluten-free references are on the list, but elsewhere in town an ordinary beer contains gluten.
  • The Italian celiac association is AIC (Associazione Italiana Celiachia), the national reference; for the rest of the country, see our guide to gluten-free travel in Italy.
