El Bolsón, in Andean Patagonia, has 4 verified addresses, 3 of them entirely dedicated to gluten-free. That is a lot for a small tourist town, and the spread is balanced: a bakery, a patisserie and a restaurant, all exclusively sin TACC. The fourth address displays the sin TACC wording without our being able to confirm anything other than a mixed kitchen.

The three entirely dedicated addresses

Sabores Sin Gluten, calle Perito Moreno, is entirely devoted to gluten-free cooking and baking: it is the only table in town where you order without asking a question, and its bread and pastries are what people cite most often. La Helvética Online describes an offering that is “100% para celíacos”.

Abuela Ana Sin Gluten, Av. Sarmiento 3106, is an entirely dedicated bakery-patisserie: breads, chipás, alfajores and pastries, all sin TACC. Argentine bakery directories and RestaurantGuru confirm the exclusive specialization, with an average rating of 8.8/10 and a welcome that is regularly praised.

Zacci, delicias al paso, General Roca 360, is a 100% gluten-free patisserie, known for its chipas and its sin TACC sweet things. The site lahelveticaonline.com.ar and the official Instagram account confirm it. It is the practical daytime stop, in a town that is very busy in summer.

The mixed address: arepas and “Sin TACC” on the shopfront

La Gran Bestia Pork, General Roca 601, is a Venezuelan fusion restaurant built around arepas — made with corn flour, so wheat-free by nature — served with smoked pork and Patagonian produce. The place displays the words “Sin TACC”, but we found neither a formalized gluten-free menu nor a protocol against cross-contamination: the establishment announces itself as gluten-free, no independent source confirms it. We therefore class it as mixed, as a precaution. Corn flour guarantees nothing if it is worked in the same kitchen as everything else: if you go, announce your celiac disease and ask how the arepas are made.

Our tips on site

  • Say “Soy celíaco” or “Soy celíaca”, rather than “sin gluten”. That is the word that triggers real precautions in the kitchen.
  • The words “Sin TACC” are not enough. That is the official Argentine wording — without wheat, oats, barley or rye — but it often describes a product, not a kitchen. La Gran Bestia Pork illustrates the point well.
  • Two addresses on the same street. Zacci (General Roca 360) and La Gran Bestia Pork (General Roca 601) are on General Roca; the other two each require a trip.
  • ACELA is the Argentine celiac association, the national reference on the subject.
  • Travelling on across Argentina? Our guide to gluten-free travel in Argentina covers the rest of the country, and dedicated kitchen or gluten-free options, the difference explains why that distinction changes everything.
